"I have been profoundly deaf since I was 14-16 months old. Although I was Deaf from a young age, I did not identify myself as a Deaf person until I went to college at The National Institute of Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Yes, I learned ASL in college! You can learn at any age! Since my time in college, I have been involved in numerous hours of volunteer teaching services for the Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center - Community Center for the Deaf (Deaf Advocate, Deaf youth leadership, Committee member for various fundraising events, and hosting the Children’s holiday parties). I also helped bridge the Deaf and hearing communities by hosting ASL Social Events for students, friends and families.

I have taught American Sign Language at the Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center - Community Center for the Deaf for seven years until I recently relocated to the Akron area. I miss teaching ASL as well ASL tutoring too. Currently I work part time as an ASL Lab Mentor at Kent State University. I have been a member of Ohio American Sign Language Teacher Association for seven years, including four years as an OASLTA Treasurer.
