"Hello and thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I am a graduate of Long Island University at the C.W. Post Campus. There I earned a Bachelors and a Masters in Social Studies Education. In addition, I also hold an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from the College of St. Rose and have taken distance courses through Penn State's World Campus. Needless to say, my educational preparation has helped me not only understand a variety of fields in education but the venues I have learned them through (both in classrooms and online) have helped me in my teaching and tutoring. I understand that the way one person learns best will not be a "one size fits all" model.

As a Social Studies teacher in a public high school on Long Island, I have had the opportunities to teach various subjects within Social Studies. From Economics to Global History and Geography and from Pre AP World History to Participation in Government I have had the chance to gain a vast understanding of the content while understanding that content can only be mastered by learning life-long analytical skills and critical thinking methods. Social Studies (or any subject) is not just in a vacuum by itself. The skills used in one subject are most often married to another. For that reason, the mastery of a subject's skill set is so important as once you have it, you can use it for life. Furthermore, I believe my vast experience as an athletic's coach helps in my teaching/tutoring since positive motivation and repetition helps generate the best results from players. Clear and guided instruction works on an athletic field and certainly works in the academic world.

I have had opportunities to work with students one-on-one in both tutoring and home instruction settings. Whether teaching during the regular school day, at night, or during the Summer I have learned this. All students can and do want to be successful.
