"I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelors degree in both Physics and Astronomy, currently living in Southeast Alaska until I find employment in my field down in the states this coming fall.
During the school year 2011-2012, I participated in the NASA Space Grant Internship. I worked at the USGS Astrogeology center in Flagstaff, Arizona, where I analyzed photographic data of albedo changes over the Martian surface from 2007-2011. With the research for this internship, I gained knowledge of programs such as JMars, ISIS, QView, Xming and the Planetary Atlas website. I also gained experience in identifying small changes between imaging data and how to process such data on Window systems.
Astronomy has always held an interest for me, since I believe it is one of the greatest fields that has yet to be fully explored, even though it has been studied for centuries. The more I have studied astronomy the more I have understood the important connection it has to physics and why a student needs to learn physics in order to understand the details involved in astronomy.
My tutoring methods will involve developing an understanding of the student's individual learning method, then building lessons around that method in order to help them learn the subject better." less...
