"Since becoming a full time tutor ten years ago, I've read more than 50 books to become a better tutor and implemented the results of more than 27 of them into my instruction. I have developed a unique and valuable tutoring approach that requires parent participation and student buy-in and effort.

Parents must begin by making it clear the student is the only one responsible for their schoolwork and test grades and then grant them autonomy and control to do this work as they see fit. Then, the parent agrees to be a good consultant, cheerleader, and safe home base in order for their student to attain "self-driven" behavior. (The Self Driven Child, 2018) Parents assist the student to "wash off" the stress of the day and the student undergoes many successful stress cycles until they reach their plateau of latent potential. (Atomic Habits, 2018).

Students must take responsibility for their failures and prove to me they are exerting a good faith effort to improve. We use a student character sheet to keep track of their big goal, big why, small daily change, vital few, trivial many, working location, working hours, starting rituals, among other things. I also ask my students to take three personality tests before we begin so that I can get to know them faster and provide them with more tailored advice.
