"I'm Alex, a 27-year-old PhD student with a true passion for mathematics and earth science. I have been tutoring and aiding with teaching for over 6 years. I have had great success with my students, ranging from elementary school to undergraduates in college, both traditional and non-traditional. More specifically throughout my undergraduate and graduate career, I have tutored and taught students in in various courses related to coding, mathematics, and meteorology.

I have had a passion for meteorology as far back as I can recall, and love the science given how much it integrates the physical, mathematical and social sciences. One may think of a meteorologist as an individual on television at first thought, but overall the field specializes in a broad spectrum of technical and research applications as well which requires a specific set of skills and understanding of the science. This type of understanding is something I want to utilize in tutoring as well, which means I will shape each tutoring lesson to the student's needs and observe any strengths and weaknesses within the subject that would enable my tutoring to benefit the student the most. Within my tutoring style, my primary goal is to encourage each student to learn in not only in a systematic way, but in an enjoyable, fun way as well! I do not design tutoring in a lecture-style format, rather I walk each student through a problem first, and allow them to practice on their own so that I can examine where the student struggles the most throughout the problem solving process. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging problems. I also like to apply all topics to real world situations to allow my students to fully understand the relevance and necessity of knowing and using learned material in their everyday lives.

I find it not only important to understand my interested subjects but also able to teach those subjects as well. Within the field of meteorology, we are always ask to not only be able to understand the fundamental equations and science behind it all, but also able to explain it in a way that is easy for those outside the field to understand as well. I believe this philosophy holds true for tutoring as well. My goal with students is to see him or her advance in their own knowledge and make significant progress with time.

Please feel free to reach out to me for any additional information, and I will respond as quickly as possible to schedule a lesson. I look forward to working with you to obtain positive results in reaching your academic goals!" less...
