"Greetings!

My name is Coach Colter Heirigs. I am a One Diamond and Donus D Roberts Coaching Excellence Award-winning Debate Coach who has been coaching Speech & Debate at the highest levels for the past 8 years.

In my time coaching my teams have twice been awarded the NSDA National Debate School of Excellence Award (recognizing the top 20 debate programs in the nation), and have won 7 State Championships. My students placed 14th in the nation in Policy Debate in 2019, and made it to the Quarterfinals of Extemp in 2017.

Some highlights from the 2022-23 season include coaching:

-the 3rd seed in Lincoln Douglas Debate @ the Harvard Invitational

-2 sophomores to place 5th in the nation in Policy Debate @ NCFL Grand Nationals

-2 sophomores to auto-qualify to the 2024 NCFL Nationals in Policy Debate

-a sophomore to 10th place in the nation in Lincoln Douglas at the NSDA National Championship

-a sophomore to auto-qualify for the 2024 NSDA National Championships in LD

-a sophomore to auto-qualify to the 2024 Tournament of Champions in LD

-2 students to top 16 finishes in Lincoln Douglas Debate @ the Tournament of Champions

As a debater, I was recognized as an NSDA All-American, won a State Championship in Policy Debate, and made it to the late elimination rounds of NSDA Nationals placing top 30 in the nation. I was captain of my debate team, and qualified to NSDA National Championship in Policy Debate (2x), Congressional Debate, and Extemporaneous Speaking.

My goal for all students regardless of skill level is improvement. I will teach your child to be a problem-solver, and to think both critically and strategically.
