"I have been studying and teaching English, ELA, and ESL for over thirty years. I hold a B.A. in English and history from Cleveland State University, an M.A. in English (TESOL concentration), an M.A. in Latin (Kent State University), and a Ph.D. in comparative literature (Purdue).

I have published articles on American literature and film. I received the State University of New York's Chancellor's Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities and a fellowship from Cornell University. I have taught English in Europe, New England (Choate Rosemary Hall), Case Western Reserve, and Purdue Syracuse University.

I have taught adults, middle and high school students, boarding school students, immigrant international students, and (as a volunteer) resettled refugees.

I am adept at teaching academic vocabulary development through the study of Greek and Latin roots and have taught the English vocabulary component of the Zhongkao examination. I have abundant experience teaching individuals and groups via video conference software.
