"Hello! I am Amanda, and I have a Bachelors in Earth Science, and two minors in Environmental Science and Geography from Oregon State University. I have done off and on unpaid tutoring 1:1 work throughout the years, particularly growing up and teaching my younger sister about her subjects.
When tutoring, my main priority first is to not just determine what the student does already understand, but also how they learn best. I also do my absolute best to frame or relate the material to what the student is interested in or real life implications, in order to keep their interest and enhance the learning experience.
While my formal education is in Earth Science, I also have a very significant passion for history. I have been educating myself on history and took as many history classes as I could ever since early high school. As a result, I feel confident that despite my lack of history degree, I would be able to tutor a high school student or below in: U.S History, U.S Government and Politics, and World History. Admittedly, history is where my biggest academic passion is at, and I would love to show students how history is not just remembering dates and people, but how relevant it is today!
I am extremely familiar with the multiple tests offered and/or required of High School students. Before my university years, I took the SAT and ACT tests. Additionally, I took four AP tests (World History, U.S History, Environmental Science and Chemistry).
