"My name is Maricela and I am finishing up my Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education with a Bilingual Supplement. I earned my Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and worked for 10 years in the juvenile justice system. I changed my life course and decided I wanted to become a teacher in early education. I enrolled in a teacher certification program in my state and will receive my certification in May 2025.

I am currently employed as a 3rd grade Dual Language Science and Social Studies teacher where I teach in English and Spanish. I additionally teach Phonics and Language Development for English Proficient and English Language Learners. I have an understanding of different levels of learning and am able to create engaging lessons that will meet the learning objectives. I enjoy making learning fun! Also, teaching in a STAAR tested grade, I have the background in working with students who need additional support in preparing for the exam. I also support students in my classes with Math and Reading/Writing in preparation for the STAAR.

Additionally, I am proficient in Spanish and have provided tutoring to English Language Learners. I can work with students of all grades who need additional support in acquiring the English language. Or if students need tutoring in their high school Spanish courses, I can provide support here as well!
