"I grew up bilingual in Spanish and English. After my undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago, I completed a PhD in Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin. My areas of specialization are phonetics and phonology (the study of sounds) as well as descriptive and documentary linguistics (describing, recording, and strengthening previously understudied languages). I have conducted linguistic fieldwork in Nahualá and Chichicastenango, Guatemala.

I have several years of experience as an instructor and teaching assistant in linguistics and language classes at the university level, as well as six years of experience tutoring children and adults in Spanish, ESL, writing, math, and many other areas. I am an avid language learner - I have studied many languages from all over the world, including French, Arabic, Swahili, and K'iche' (Maya).
