This past year I had the pleasure of being an 8th Grade Pre-Algebra teacher, specifically working with the ELL kids again. It gave me great joy to make math make sense for them, simply because they were hearing it in their native language.
I pride myself in making seemingly complex math information come across as simple and easy to understand. Sometimes curriculum jargon confuses students, and I get them to understand the vocabulary by framing it in different ways.
Apart from my degree partially being in Spanish, I am a heritage Spanish speaker. I know the colloquialisms of casual conversation in Spanish, but also the formal rules of the language. Life has been very bilingual for me since the cradle, so the back and forth between English and Spanish comes very natural to me.
My Humanities degree was comprised of Film, Spanish, and Human Rights. All 3 subsections of my degree were writing heavy, classes in which I had to explain or argue in detail.
