"I am a long-time non-formal educator and outdoor instructor. I've taught and tutored people of all ages in areas such as Spanish and English language; and environmentalism, botany and ecology.
I speak English as a first language and received 5's on the Advanced Placement exams in high school. I wrote for a backpacking blog, ski resort blog, a real estate agent's website, and an ethnobotany website. I am very talented at proofreading, grammar and writing. I am currently tutoring two Adult ESL students, proofreading college papers, and working with middle and high school English students on essay development and reading comprehension.
I became fluent in Spanish while in a year long exchange program in Chile, learned Spanish in classes for 10 years before that, and earned a Minor in Spanish Language and Cultural Studies. I have also written long papers and community outreach brochures in Spanish. I have been formally hired as a Spanish-English interpreter for a ski resort, a backpacking guiding company, and a medical device development company. I am currently tutoring adult, high school, and middle school beginner to intermediate Spanish students.
I earned a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Studies at University of California, Santa Barbara. I have taught multiple classes on Leave No Trace to adults on a national scale, using Zoom and interactive activities that I created. I wrote and implemented a 5 lesson unit on Nature Connection and Ethnobotany that I taught to college students. And I have spent years instructing people of all ages in backpacking, wilderness camp craft, water sports, climbing and more. My full-time job is an Environmental Educator for Ecology Project International where I bring school groups into Yellowstone National Park for week-long ecology field courses." less...
