"I am a Bionegineering PhD student in the joint program between the University of California, Berkeley and the University of California, San Francisco. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Given my degree in an interdisciplinary field, I have taken classes in various topics including, but not limited to, calculus, linear algebra, probability statistics, physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, genetics, cellular biology, and bioinformatics. I have 3 years of research experience in cancer biology and gene regulation to which I aim to continue throughout my PhD.

During undergrad, I was a tutor at UCSC where I taught other undergraduate students chemistry and physics. I have participated in various pedagogy courses and seminars to expand my teaching skillset. My current tutoring methods include formative assessment and active learning. During my time as a tutor, I gathered skills to mold my tutoring techniques to fit the needs of students from various backgrounds. My mentorship philosophy is to foster a safe, judge-free learning environment through classroom equity to promote student engagement and trust. I strongly believe this feat is necessary for a student to express vulnerability in their academic gaps which can be further addressed in order for the student to thrive academically.
