"My name is Michelle, I'm 23 years old and my life goal is to eventually become a college professor of microbiology or cellular and molecular biology. In addition to helping students succeed with subjects in which they need the most help, I also enjoy reading Shakespeare and other classical novels such as anything by E.A. Poe and George Orwell. I'm a recent graduate of Mansfield University in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and Microbiology was my favorite subject.
I enjoy many things about teaching and tutoring, but I love watching my students succeed the best. My first real tutoring position was with Elizabethtown College in downstate PA, and my first student came to me mid-semester with a failing grade in biology, and by the time we were done, she had aced her tests and would pass the class with a C+. She was proud of that C+, and I was proud of the hard work she did. I don't simply do students' work for them, but rather try to explain things in a way that the teacher or professor did not, so that the student will do well without someone coaching them during exams. I view my tutoring as a way to put myself out of a job. If I can make sure a student doesn't need my help anymore, I have succeeded as a tutor.
