"Having graduated with Honors with a double major in History and Philosophy of Science as well as Studio Art from the University of Chicago and attended the rigorous college preparatory school, Hackley, I am well versed in the ins and outs of tough academic institutions and how to navigate them. I recently completed a Master's in Fine Arts with a certificate in Curatorial Studies at Hunter College where I spent time as a teaching assistant at a graduate level. Through all my academic experience I have found that I learn the most from teachers who are truly passionate about their subjects, and my hope in tutoring is to help students learn the subjects I am most passionate about which continue to be biology and art.
My academic studies, especially the common core taught at the University of Chicago, have familiarized me with a broad depth of subjects and I have helped students in the past with research and writing. Whether you are struggling with an AP test, having trouble with a scientific or art historical paper, or want to learn to draw or paint, my goal is to show students how to unlock their own enthusiasm for these often daunting subjects.
At the University of Chicago I focused on biology, evolutionary ecology, and anatomy and worked for three years after college at the Field Museum of Natural History, where I aided in education programs geared towards making research science accessible to high school students. I eventually studied History and Philosophy of Science, which incorporates philosophy and sociology into looking at science on a broader level and through this I honed my research and writing skills.
I recently graduated from Hunter College with a Masters in Fine Arts and have been studying art since I was a child, I am well versed in most art processes especially painting, drawing and sculpting and have been a teaching assistant at the graduate level. I have broad knowledge of art theory and art history as well.
