"I am a statistician with several years professional experience in areas of clinical trials, health insurance research, and educational testing. I completed my Master of Science degree in biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh. While in graduate school, I received merit-based appointments to serve as a teaching assistant for 3 separate courses offered by the biostatistics department - two were core introductory biostatistics courses, the other an advanced professional-level course in clinical trials research methodology. I was then awarded a pre-doctoral fellowship, which gave me exposure to several different areas of biostatistical research.
I taught general mathematics, algebra, and business statistics part-time at Robert Morris University for one academic year before relocating to Philadelphia in 2008. I count several years of experience using statistical software packages, particularly those regularly used in industry and academia for data management and analysis: SAS, SPSS, and Stata. Additionally, I have completed 4 courses at the SAS Institute in Philadelphia and a Terradata SQL course at LearnQuest. Finally, I also have a firm grasp of the Microsoft Office Suite.
I prefer a hands-on approach to teaching and tutoring, an approach developed and polished during office hours as a TA and adjunct mathematics faculty. I find one-to-one tutoring most effective and personally rewarding." less...
