"Allow me to show you the skills that helped me improve from 497->521!
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Magna Cum Laude, and minors in biology, psychology, and mathematics. I scored in the 98th percentile on the MCAT (131, 129, 131, 130; 521) as well. I have been tutoring freelance for the past seven years, and am currently attending medical school at Boston University. I have formal individual and group tutoring experience from the three years I worked as a professional on-campus tutor and tutor supervisor at my college's ACE Learning Center. On average, students who attended my sessions received 10 points higher on exams than those who did not.
My breadth of experience in tutoring STEM fields has informed me of the multitude of ways with which to instruct students of all levels! I believe everyone learns differently and that it is the tutor's responsibility to determine how best to introduce topics to learners and cement them to better their academic performance.
My style of tutoring is best characterized by encouraging critical thinking, holistic understanding, and spaced repetition. Clients in my past have appreciated my analogies for tough concepts that are hard to understand otherwise. I excel in cutting out the fat of what you're taught in class as to hone in on what you must know to thrive in your courses.
I achieved an MCAT score improvement from a 501 diagnostic to my official score of 521 in the 98 percentile, so I am familiar with what it's likely to grind in the trenches for this examination. During my MCAT journey, I accumulated tips, tricks, and strategies as part of my self-study method that were essential for me to perform as best as I could on test day. Now I would like to share my skills with anyone looking to put in the extra mileage themselves." less...
