"I graduated from Caltech with Honors in Applied Mathematics and did my thesis in Information Theory. I was a TA for all three core math classes (head TA for the junior), which covered Single and Multi-Variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Transforms, and Complex Analysis. I was an Instructor (not a Professor!) for their graduate level Information Theory class.

I ran Caltech's secondary school outreach program teaching math, physics, and SAT prep. Over three decades I have tutored countless students one-on-one in a variety of STEM topics. This has ranged from high school Algebra to Group Theory algebra, and even rarer topics like Graph Theory and Cryptography.
I prefer online sessions. To get started we'll need the syllabus, textbook, and homeworks for the course, to clarify your goals and topics for each session. I am particularly adept at helping advanced students excel. For regular students, I assign additional exercises to accelerate their progress.
What sets me apart from other tutors are my real world accomplishments. I have worked for all the national labs, done classified research for the US government, participated in Silicon Valley startups, and been a consultant in high demand for a decade. I've distilled the best practices for what makes people successful and desire to pass it on to future generations.
Thus, I am interested in both tutoring and mentoring. For tutoring, I have students work through as much of a problem as they can on their own, teaching them in real time where needed, and striving to get them to high independent performance. For mentoring, I teach productive "self-talk" that enables them to break down issues into manageable pieces, then how to leverage resources to become more effective as well as make things more efficient. I am an Aristotle looking for some Alexanders/dras to mentor, to help make them great. I look forward to meeting you soon." less...
