"Hello! I have been working in elementary and middle school education for 23 years. I am currently an elementary special education inclusion teacher in Gloucester County. I taught for eight years prior in Pennsylvania with students with autism, behavioral disorders, and other learning and emotional disorders. I believe that learning should be fun, relevant, and include all kids of methods of delivery, not just pencil and paper.
I have extensive experience tutoring both general education and special education students in their homes. On several occasions, I began tutoring one of my own students after school, then began tutoring their brothers and sisters as well. For as long as I have taught, I have tutored. I find it rewarding to watch kids really come into their own with a little bit of extra help!
I am trained in and have taught the Wilson Fundations program, a highly effective program for struggling readers. I have taught reading to special education students ages five to twelve, and believe in making reading, and learning to read, fun and relevant to children.
I hold my New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification as well as my Elementary Teacher certification, Middle Grades Math and Science certifications, and have 23 years of experience working with students with a variety of disabilities, including specific learning disabilities, dyslexia, autism, and autism spectrum disorders, as well as general education students.
Elementary school is the time for students to get the extra help they need, the time to close any learning gaps they may have before moving into higher grades. Private tutoring is an effective way to deliver the help they need, in a one-on-one, comfortable setting. My priority for tutoring, besides helping students make progress academically, is to foster a comfortable, safe environment for both the students and their parents." less...
