"I am a certified elementary school educator with a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in literacy from Lesley University. I completed my Master's degree with a GPA score of 3.49. I have 12 years of experience teaching elementary school students ranging from preschool through sixth grade. I have taught students one on one and in small groups in various schools and hospital settings.
I integrate my students' interests and learning styles to increase their motivation to learn. For example, some of my younger students are kinesthetic learners that love hands-on activities while they are learning to spell new words. They have enjoyed matching Lego blocks labeled with initial, middle, and ending sounds to create new "cvc" (consonant, vowel, consonant) words. Once they have finished building these words, we start to discuss the meaning of each word and create sentences together. Some of my older students are visual learners and artistic. If their goal is reading and writing, they enjoy painting after reading a story to help them express their reading comprehension. When they finish painting, the students find the artwork helpful to begin the writing process.
I would love to discuss how I can help your child with reading and writing. I look forward to hearing from you!" less...
