"I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from Randolph College, in Lynchburg, Va. I have an active teaching license in Special Education with an endorsement in Secondary English. My bachelor's degree is in Early Childhood Education. This means that I am able in both professional training and professional experience throughout my career to work with students from preschool through high school!

Previous tutoring/teaching experience

I taught in a public school setting for 5 years. This includes tutoring-like environments including homebound students, remediation students, summer school students, special education resource classes, as well as general education.

When I teach, students should be actively engaged in their own learning. Together with the student, I will organize the tutoring according to feedback, need, personality, and preferences. I, personally, don't like to be bored teaching any more than a student likes to be bored learning. Active, purposeful, and enjoyable learning is always the goal. But I can only give so much as the student will take. If you meet me at 100%, you will thrive. If you meet me at 0%, neither of us will walk away satisfied.

I am very receptive to student feedback. I encourage it. For younger students, I will use consistent formative assessments to plot our course and decide where we need to fill in gaps, according to the tutoring request made. For older students, I encourage clear communication so that I am able to work with you on your course.
