"I'm Yvonne, certified English teacher, successful home educator, experienced tutor. After spending several years in the public high school classroom, I embarked on a journey as a home educator. 25 years later, my five children have all finished high school and are in college, in graduate school, or gainfully employed. In addition to home schooling, I have worked extensively as a private ACT/SAT tutor, coached many students in spelling, and tutored students in English grammar and in composition. In addition to my certification as a secondary English teacher, I also hold a master's degree in counseling psychology and have worked with testing and evaluation in the public school setting.

Education is my passion. I particularly enjoy working one on one with students in a tutoring environment. The tutoring relationship allows me to get to know my students, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and determine the best individual strategies to maximize their learning potential.

As a certified secondary English teacher, I am experienced in teaching grammar, spelling, writing, and literature. After coaching two of my children in four trips to the National Spelling Bee, I began a weekly spelling club for 3rd - 8th graders which continued for 5 years. My experience with ACT/SAT tutoring began with my own children (4 National Merit Scholars) and has expanded to a private, referral-based tutoring service.
