"Hey there, students and Francophiles!
I’m Jennifer, a licensed, secondary English teacher of eight years with four years in 6th-8th grade English, four years in 7th-12th grade English, English honors, AP Lang, and French I, II, and French honors. I hold a bachelor’s in English with a minor in French (only two classes shy of a double major) and a master’s in teaching English. Outside of my classes, I taught or coached chess, debate, BETA Club, yearbook, newspaper, and cheerleading, too. I’ve also been tutoring students from first grade to college since 2013 with nothing but success.
Whether you need to whip up a paper or learn something for life, I’ve got you covered! Every year my students earn the highest scores in the school, even in the history of a 100-year-old Catholic school, and for three years, I was voted favorite teacher by almost every senior at my school. I’ve taught and studied most novels and authors along with all the grammar rules, writing modes (research, expository, analytical, and narrative), and Greek or Latin roots and affixes. If it’s English related, I’m your expert.
Being a native of Louisiana, I grew up hearing French and taking part in Creole and Cajun culture. I love French as if it were my own language and now create and sell French and English teaching resources. Being a French teacher was the greatest joy of my life, and I have completed several immersive trips to Lafayette where I took my French students to visit with native French speakers, embark on French-speaking excursions, and experience Creole and Cajun cuisine and music. I love French, and I love sharing Louisiana culture and heritage with my students even more!
My tutoring approach incorporates contemporary methods such as discussion-based lessons, scaffolded instruction, and differentiated learning. Lesson structure accommodates the student's goals. Based in the Central Time Zone, I am available to tutor on both East and West Coasts, and my hours are more than flexible for French and a good text!" less...
