"I'm Tiffany! I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Cognitive Science. After college, I trained as a teacher with NYC Teaching Fellows while completing a Masters Degree in Special Education. I became certified to teach in NY and more recently in FL. My extensive education has taught me so much about the human mind and how to work effectively with students of various exceptionalities including autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities. My patience and ability to simplify topics is what my students love most about me.
The subject I enjoy teaching most is math! I use the "I do, We do, You do" method, beginning with direct instruction, then giving students practice problems with guidance until they can complete problems independently. My belief is that through practice and repetition the skills students learn are better remembered and retained for longer, thereby optimizing their performance of those skills. Algebra, trigonometry, geometry, & pre-algebra are my specialties. I also provide test prep for those taking math regents, ACTs, SATs, and the GED. I have 5 years of classroom experience teaching in various settings including ICT, as well as self-contained classrooms with 6:1, 8:1, and 12:1 teacher to student ratio. I have experience providing push-in/pull-out services for students with IEPs, writing IEPs, collecting data, as well as providing small group and 1:1 instruction. I use differentiation to support each student's unique needs, learning styles, and interests through various modifications and accommodations. I have 3 years experience teaching math remotely using interactive online platforms and apps that keep students engaged.
I would love to help you or your child reach your goals in math whether it be improving your grades, studying for a test, helping with homework, or improving your math skills in general. Please feel free to contact me with questions or to schedule a lesson." less...
