"My favorite part of any day is when one of my students says something like "I get it" or "now it makes sense" or "and then when this goes here...". I enjoy being a classroom teacher but I also believe that not everyone understands everything the first time around and some concepts need more focused, individualized attention. I believe that students learn in different modalities so it's best to present lessons using kinesthetic, tactile, aural, and visual methods. When I tutored for an industry leader in the past, my students experienced a lot of success. I do not give up easily and if what I am trying is not making sense to a student, I will keep looking for ways that they will understand the material. It is not enough that students know things, they must be able to demonstrate knowledge and relate it to other subjects. It is not enough that they can read a selection, they must be able to answer questions about it and apply it to other situations. A lot of discussion during tutoring can help students look into learning with more depth." less...
