"Hi! I'm Geri! I've been teaching for 25 years. Throughout this time, I've taught students ranging from adolescents to adults. My goal is to find the best instructional approach to reading and writing for each learner. The span of my tutoring experience includes preschoolers on the cusp of recognizing words and sounds, high school students preparing for college, and adults in college or in need of writing refresher sessions. My dedication to teaching has earned me “Teacher of the Year” and a master’s degree in educational administration. With these achievements, I am proud to continue improving my craft and helping inspire students to do their best.

I specialize in the language arts areas of reading and writing. The writing categories I can assist students with are grammar, sentence structure, and specific strategies for paragraph formation, essay writing, and SAT verbal preparation. For reading strategies, I can offer assistance with early reading techniques as well as the formulation of strategies for comprehension, inferences, and summarizing on the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Additionally, my services also include college essay preparation as well as refresher writing sessions for career-changing adults

One of the most exciting moments for me as a teacher/tutor is the “light bulb” moment—when the concept students are struggling with becomes apparent. I revel in the excitement of illumination and take joy in sharing this phenomenon with all my students. My goal is to make sure it happens and continues to ignite the life-long spark of learning.
