"Greetings to all looking for an experienced teacher/tutor!

I have been teaching middle and high school math for over a decade (7th grade math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, algebra 2, and some pre-calculus). I try to do as much 1-on-1 instruction with my students as possible, as that is where I see the most gains. I have had several tutoring jobs over the past decade, working with high school learners mostly struggling in algebra. Most of my career has been helping learners that have trouble with math and are several grade levels behind. I am great at building confidence and helping teach strategies for persevering in solving problems. I have an easy-going and positive demeanor, but will push you to do your best and grow through productive struggle. I can provide homework support, test prep, strategies for specific math topics, or teach you new math content if you just want to get ahead. I scored a 34 on my Math ACT in high school and am comfortable with tutoring for the Math ACT portion as well (I help my students go through the ACT Math practice problems every year).

In addition to math, I also am an avid chess player and have played in a few USCF Rated tournaments over the years, so if you are a beginning chess player and want to improve your game I would be a great resource. I can tutor in other subjects as well, if desired, but math is my strongest subject. If you come with a positive attitude and a desire to learn--I will help you get where you need to be to reach your goals!

I would prefer online sessions, but am open to doing in-person sessions as well if that is preferred. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, I am a Certified Math Teacher for middle and high school students, and I have taught everything from 7th grade math through pre-calculus.
