"I have a B.S. in Physics and graduated summa cum laude with a 3.96 GPA, receiving the award for outstanding achievement in Physics by the UTEP Physics department in 2016. I am currently en route to receive a Master's in Statistics and Data Science as well. I received my Math/Physics Grades 7-12 teaching certification from Region 13 in Texas and have maintained an active certification. I have 6 years of experience teaching and creating curriculum for high school AlgebraI, Algebra II, Precalculus, and Calculus. I have taught two Electromagnetism sections at the college level and have tutored university students in Calculus I, Calculus II, Multivariable Calculus, Probability, College Algebra, Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, as well as Classical and Quantum Mechanics. I have a combined teaching/tutoring experience of 10+ years.
I love to witness the "Aha!" moment in students. Getting you from "what is going on here?" to "this isn't hard at all" is my specialty.
My approach is simple and effective. We will begin by doing a sort of "diagnostic" to figure out what areas we need to focus on. That is, we'll figure out what part of the problem solving process isn't clicking for you or what concepts just are sinking in. We'll TAKE OUR TIME (patience is one of my best qualities as an educator) and come up with a plan of action customized to your needs and your strengths as a learner. The idea is to slowly build your confidence with the subject and follow it up with quality practice.
My philosophy is that every student can be proficient at any subject, given the right guidance and motivation. I also make a conscious effort to show you how each concept is useful in the real world; I have a catalog of projects I designed ranging from basic algebra to university level calculus that we can use to solidify your learning and drive your curiosity forward." less...
