"After earning my bachelor's degree at Barnard College/ Columbia University, I earned my Masters in Special Education at Hunter College. During my tenure as a Special Education teacher in New York City Public Schools, I discovered the importance of modifying curricula to meet the diverse learning needs of my students. Early in my career, I realized that many students of all ages and backgrounds struggled with content-area learning due to deficiencies in foundational literacy skills. I decided to pursue my Wilson Reading Certification as well as my Reading Specialist certification at Drexel University in order to better address my students' needs. I went on to work as a full time Reading Specialist a charter school in Philadelphia.
I strongly believe that every child deserves high-quality, research-based literacy instruction. By providing one-on-one tutoring, I can tailor each lesson to the specific needs of my students, fostering greater progress. I earned my certification as a Wilson Reading System Dyslexia Therapist in order to provide highly effective instruction to my students. Wilson offers an organized, sequential phonics system that can be modified to target individual areas of need.
Whether your child is diagnosed with dyslexia or facing other reading challenges, I possess the flexibility to customize instruction to their unique needs. I am open to liaising with your child's teachers to collaboratively address your child’s reading requirements, should you find that beneficial. I prefer to hold tutoring sessions online, but am willing to meet at a public library or other location depending on your preference.
Priority in scheduling is given to families committing to a minimum of twice-weekly 60-minute tutoring sessions. This commitment ensures that your child receives the recommended number of comprehensive Wilson lessons, leading to expected progress.
I am eager to meet you and your child, gain insights into their needs, and discuss potential schedules and specifics." less...
