"I am an experienced Spanish instructor and bilingual elementary classroom teacher who loves teaching learners of all ages, from prekindergarten students to adults. I have over twenty years’ experience teaching and tutoring a variety of subjects including Spanish as a foreign language at the university level, core academic subjects as an elementary bilingual-Spanish classroom teacher, and reading and literacy skills as a bilingual school librarian. I hold an M.A. in Spanish literature and am a certified Texas Bilingual-Spanish EC-6 classroom teacher and EC-12 school librarian. I am passionate about teaching and improving the lives of my students!

My teaching career began as a Spanish language instructor at the University of Texas at Austin, where I taught all levels of Spanish foreign language courses. After an opportunity to volunteer as an elementary reading coach, I decided to pursue public school education and taught as a bilingual-Spanish classroom teacher and school librarian.

I believe that with the right learning strategies all students can succeed. I have seen this firsthand with my own students at both at the college and public school level. As an experienced classroom teacher and foreign language instructor, I can anticipate common areas of difficulty as well as identify and clear up specific points of confusion for individual learners.

What most determines academic success, however, is the relationship students have with their instructor. Educators must not only be experts in their academic subjects and pedagogy, but also be great communicators who connect well with others. My relationship with students is built on trust, understanding, and compassion. I love teaching, am passionate about the Spanish language and literacy, and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others.
