I've been teaching languages for 15+ years. During undergrad, I worked as an SAT, ESL, and Spanish tutor for Varsity Tutors before going out on my own. I've instructed countless students, both in the U.S. and abroad, who have struggled with grasping a foreign language. From EFL and German instruction at schools in southern Mexico, to private Spanish lessons for adult learners in New York, I've truly worked with every kind of student!
Aside from my degrees in Spanish, Translation, and Applied Linguistics, I have authentic, long-term experience with the language. I started studying Spanish as a child, always with teachers who were native speakers. In college, I took linguistics courses in Madrid and eventually moved to the beautiful rural state of Chiapas, Mexico. I've been teaching in Mexico for 8+ years, and I'm very passionate about my work. There's nothing like learning a language from someone who lives where it's spoken and can tell you about the culture firsthand.
And Spanish is not the only foreign language I speak! I currently hold a B1-level certificate from the Goethe Institut, making me qualified to teach German, as well. This year, I proudly completed Easy German's Summer School Program, during which time I finished an intensive B2-level course at GLS (German Language School) in central Berlin. I still study German for fun every day and love to teach it as a hobby!
If you're interested in English writing or reading classes, I can assist you with that, as well. I've always prided myself on getting an 800 on the SAT Writing. Other than test scores, though, what speaks to my English skills is my long history of online articles. My informative pieces on writing, college admissions, and the SAT have been published on websites like U.S. News, Yahoo News, College Confidential, and more." less...
