"I began my education career as a substitute teacher in grades 1 through 8. While pursuing my teacher certification, I did one-on-one and small group tutoring with students from kindergarten through high school in all subjects. I completed my student teaching in a 5th grade GT Social Studies classroom and fell in love with the subject. Mostly recently, I worked with Special Education students in 7th and 8th grade, assisting with all academic subjects.
I especially enjoy the one-on-one tutoring dynamic and have decided to dedicate myself to tutoring full-time. I love getting to know the particular student and really focusing on strengthening their weak spots through personalized instruction. My roots are in the humanities and I love sharing that passion with others, but I enjoy all learning, which is why I chose a Generalist Certification, which would allow me to teach any of the core subjects.
I have an English degree from Texas Woman's University and was considered Highly Qualified to teach that subject by Texas Teachers Alternative Certification program.
As an educator with Pearland ISD, I have received STAAR test training and have worked on STAAR prep and tutoring with junior high students.
I look forward to the opportunity to work together to reach your goals." less...
