"As a teacher for the past 13 years, my experience is very broad. I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. I obtained my first teaching job in Phoenix, Arizona at a 6-12 grade charter school, servicing at-risk students. I worked here for three years before moving on to the public school system as a 4th, and later a 5th, grade classroom teacher. Then, the charter school that I originally worked for sought me out and asked me to come back as a center director for 130 students and 8 teachers. Although it was challenging, I truly loved this position. I could feel the difference I was making in the lives of these students. Many of these students graduated from high school with dreams and plans to include college. I have since become a mom and have moved back to my home state of Minnesota. I would love to stay connected to education and continue to help students reach their goals.

I hold a Master's Degree in Educational Curriculum and Instructional Technology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. I feel my biggest strength as a teacher is being able to connect to students, to listen to their needs, consider their learning styles and what motivates them, develop a plan to improve the area of need, and -the best part- work directly with the student to implement that plan. I held an Arizona Teaching Certificate for 14 years, and I was considered Highly-Qualified in Mathematics at that time. My most recent experience, over the past 4 years, is with high school students and in all subjects. I have come to specialize somewhat in ACT prep. Additional strengths lie in Algebra, Geometry, Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Test Prep. I also have experience guiding students through the registration process for college, as well as applying for scholarships and government financial aid.
