"I'm a NYS certified math educator with 10+ years tutoring experience covering a range of math courses. Formally, I hold a PhD in Engineering and a Master of Arts in Teaching, with a concentration in Mathematics. I have taught middle school Math (grades 7-8) and Algebra 1 for the past four years, in both the general education setting, as well as more restrictive settings for students requiring more individualized or scaffolded supports. In addition to those areas listed, I also tutor Algebra 2 (NYS Regents Prep), Precalculus, and AP Calculus/Calculus I.
I love to learn, I enjoy being challenged, and I'm always thinking of ways to solve problems - probably because of my engineering background. I believe that everyone is capable of learning, and under the right conditions. All learners are not the same, and as a tutor/teacher, my goal is to help you learn the way you learn best.
Whether you’re trying to master a challenging topic, or maybe you just need some extra help to get you exam-ready, you can expect quality support and instruction at a pace you’re comfortable with. Sometimes it may take remediation, especially for foundational skills that aren’t taught at your current level of math. What else can you expect? Content reviews to enhance conceptual understanding, multiple at-bats for procedural fluency, break-it-down questions to get you thinking, great analogies for almost everything, and a ton of patience!
I typically work with students one-on-one, but if the need arises, can also work with small groups of about 3-4 in the same content area. I’m also tech savvy and online-friendly, whether you require a quick virtual check-in about a question or concept, or online is just your preference. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule your first lesson." less...
