"I'm Jared! I am a senior at Weber State University, studying chemistry. I have over one year of experience in tutoring. I've worked with chemistry students, young and old, both one on one and in groups as a T.A. and a lab aid. I understand that chemistry is a difficult subject. My goal in tutoring is to break down tough concepts into manageable pieces. I teach for understanding, not for memorization. I know from experience that understanding comes with guided practice and this is the main way that I structure my lessons.
I have experience tutoring general, organic, bio and analytical chemistry. My specialty is in analytical chemistry with an emphasis on spectroscopy, gas & liquid chromatography, and other separation techniques. In addition to my experience as a tutor, I also have over two years of experience in laboratory and research settings. Science is a hands on subject and learning chemistry is no different. I use my experience in the lab to prepare demonstrations meant to encourage comprehension and retention of chemistry topics.
I also speak fluent Korean. I lived in South Korea for two years and learned to speak from native Korean people. I gained a lot of language teaching experience by teaching Korean people English, and I have a deep understanding of the Korean language that I strive to impart to my students.
