"Hi, I'm Jasha! I graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry where I studied general, organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, and environmental chemistry, as well as classical physics and calculus I/II/III. I concluded my studies with a 3.7 cumulative GPA.
Throughout college, I've spent a considerable amount of time in academic labs, where I'm always assisting my peers where they have trouble and lack understanding of the material, explaining how to perform a step in a procedure or conduct a computation. I excel at breaking down problems into more readily graspable concepts and explaining how to work through them without giving away the answer. I am dedicated to helping others understand chemistry and calculus concepts and how to solve problems using fundamental rules, formulas, theories, and logic. Since graduating, I’ve been working as an analytical chemist where I use my knowledge of chemistry to operate complex chemical instruments to analyze for various contaminants. I apply a combination of theory and practical application to solve problems which has strengthened my grasp of the concepts and better enables me to explain them to others using real-world experience.
When I assist my peers with their work, I first like to let them explain what they believe they should do, to see their underlying understanding of the material first. From this, I can assess where their knowledge is lacking and fill these spaces by breaking down explanations step-by-step, pushing them in the right direction. If they don’t know how to begin or proceed, I remind them of certain principles or formulas that may help them see where to go from there. When they can explain how to solve something, their understanding is best. I work to help get them there, always approaching them with patience and determination to meet students' needs, understanding that everyone has different styles of learning and adapting to best assist them." less...
