Most of the time you've just missed a few basic details. I can help clear those up. I tutor by watching you work through a problem or idea and offer help along the way. After you understand, I will point out variations and mention any common pitfalls. I also love sharing personal memory tricks to keep all the details straight. I am patient and do not skip steps.

I learned early on that there are MANY different ways that people learn. I went to school to teach undergraduate level chemistry because I wanted to lecture to all those different learning styles but while training also realized that it is so interesting tutoring students 1:1. I love seeing the 'click' when someone understands and I like helping people see how information in chemistry relates to the real world. So, I made the decision to tutor undergraduate and high school chemistry students like you!" less...

Education and Qualifications

school: University of Tennessee, Knoxville

My five years of graduate school gave me the opportunity to work with all types of students as a teaching assistant and laboratory instructor. I have lead undergraduate chemistry review sessions and tutored general chemistry undergraduates as well as high school students. I had the opportunity to work with 'returning' students of all ages and students with disabilities too.

My experience also includes teaching three, three hour sessions each of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and stategy sessions for the MCAT/DAT and I taught the math sessions for the GRE for Kaplan test prep for 5 years. I have a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from UT-Knoxville and my thesis involved making new molecules in the lab and studying them with NMR.
