"Howdy, my name is Tucker. I am very passionate about a variety of subjects, including mythology, D&D, processional arts, mask making, and neuroscience. For nearly 5 years I helped homeschool my life partner's kids in math, science, & latin. My biggest passion is for chemistry, which has been my primary focus for the last 10 years.
Early in my undergraduate education, I was a biology major, but when my organic chem professor said that I discuss chemistry like a chemist, not a biologist; I began pursuing a customized major that would allow me to focus more on chemistry, and even began taking graduate level organic chem classes. Two years later, having taken numerous in-depth courses on biochemistry, neuroscience and psychology, I did an explorative project describing the chemical mechanisms by which our perception of bitterness in artificial sweeteners depends on structural changes to certain taste receptors. I graduated that year with the only degree in Neurochemistry the school had ever granted.
At the Drexel College of Medicine, I researched neurochemical changes of the brain associated with Parkinson's Disease, graduating with a Master's degree in 2019. Since 2019, I have been doing research and teaching in Drexel's Chemistry department.
The Gen. Chem. courses in our department serve an average of 900 students/term, and are team taught by a group a faculty, TAs and adjuncts. As a TA, I have been responsible for teaching ~150 students/term across multiple recitation & lab sections, as well as tutoring student in chem every week. I am very dedicated to the success of my students. I only ask that students show the same kind of commitment to their own chemistry education.
I encourage you to reach out if you are interested in getting a chemistry tutor with a deep understanding of the field, and commitment to sharing that understanding with others." less...
