"Hello! My name is Riya and I am currently a Ph.D student researching topics in Physics. I received my undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley and my Masters in Physics from Drexel University. I have been tutoring for 5 years now independently though people I meet recommending me to their friends. Recently I helped an 8th grade physics student rise from a D- to an A-. I have also taught calculus 1 and 2 to freshman year college students at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, I have about 5 students who are working on SAT and ACT math. In addition to tutoring, I have also been a teaching assistant at Drexel University where I taught first and second year pre-medical majors physics 1-3. I never thought tutoring could be my calling until, because of health reasons, I couldn't teach one quarter of physics to these pre-med students and when I returned, they immediately came up to me and were saying that their current TA is horrible and that they missed my teaching methods!

There is an issue of professors and teachers overcomplicating physics and math concepts to the point where the students get overwhelmed and resign to thinking that they just aren't smart enough to learn these concepts. I want to help students understand that they are capable of learning these difficult topics, all they need is a different way of thinking about it.
