With over 2 1/2 years of experience tutoring undergraduate and graduate students in writing at a local Christian college, I specialize in helping our city's future scholars prepare for and excel in higher education. Being the first in my immediate family to attend college, having graduated summa cum laude, means I understand that academic success requires dedication and hard work, both of which I expect from my tutees.

Because I'm a Christian, my approach to tutoring somewhat varies from the standard. I begin by acknowledging each student's intrinsic worth, as everyone is made in God's image (imago dei). This also means I recognize each person's capacity to reason and learn. However, I realize each student faces unique challenges. Therefore, my focus is identifying those hindrances, working with students to develop the skills they need to be successful not only academically but also in their future vocations. In short, my goal is not merely to help someone attain a specific letter grade but to help the whole person grow into his/her potential.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I had no acting experience before college. However, during my time there, I played several roles in various plays, eventually serving as student director in the drama ministry. Possessing some natural talent, I was able to help fellow thespians not only strengthen necessary skills, such as voice projection and stage utilization, but also develop their characters.

Also, I'm a third generation drummer with over twelve years of personal experience. Currently, I perform in weekly worship services at a local church. My personal philosophy regarding music is to focus less on the science and more on individual expression; however, I also emphasize the need for diligent practice.
