"I'm a recent graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I studied Electrical Engineering with some Computer Science coursework on the side. I have experience tutoring college CS majors and adult coders in a variety of programming, scripting, and markup languages, providing a no-nonsense, straightforward path to understanding and applying key concepts. I'm quite proud of the various interactive tools and visualizations I've created to help make things click. I'm primarily self-taught and maintain a spirit of exploration, focusing on practical competence and commonsense thinking instead of memorization or a multiple-choice mindset. Code does not have to be confusing! With the right approach, you can learn, understand, and create anything. Whether you're lost in your first (or second) coding class, picking up programming as a hobby, or looking for a buddy to help you plan your next project, I'm ready to help you build the skills you need in order to code with confidence.
Prior to studying at UTSA, I earned a University Scholars degree at Baylor University with concentrations in Music Composition, Philosophy, and Linguistics. The degree program included numerous essay-heavy courses that helped develop my writing chops and master the process of essay composition. I previously tutored on a different platform and received glowing reviews from students there. My writing-related tutoring on the previous platform included helping college students (primarily non-native English speakers) with essay planning and brainstorming, restructuring and improving writing, understanding and addressing structural and grammatical issues, and using proper citations. I find it very rewarding to be able to help students to figure out what they want to say and to express it in a way that they feel good about.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help the student connect the dots on individual concepts, but also to develop their ability to stay calm and take a strategic approach when tackling new challenges." less...
