"I'm Scott, a tutor who helps students learn to code in Java, C++, and Python. My tutoring approach is to help students become better problem solvers. Coding requires much more problem solving than memorization. To start, I help students figure out where to begin when solving a programming problem. I help them break down the problem into manageable pieces and create a plan to code a solution.
About my experience: During my college years, I worked in summer camps teaching programming courses in BASIC, Pascal, C, Java, and Scheme. One of these courses was a rigorous course for gifted students. My corporate experience (over 15 years) gives me a unique perspective on the understanding of and teaching of programming. I have worked in technical roles including Software Development, Customer Support Engineering, and Technical Writing.
