"Hi, I'm Maya! I am a dedicated tutor, specializing in all levels of Mathematics, Test Prep, and College Prep, with flexible hours, fast response times, and 5 years of experience working with students in all levels K-12. My lessons begin with an assessment of my student's current strengths and weaknesses and proceed with targeted exercises to bring the student as close to mastery of the subject as possible. My goal is to make my lessons as engaging and conversational as possible, drawing from my own experiences from courses and life, in general, to best preserve the excitement in learning.
My college preparation strategies work to meticulously craft essays and applications to most clearly showcase student talents to colleges; I am in close communication with the students I work with throughout the process, fielding questions on school choices, essay brainstorming/editing, the smaller details of applications, and broader planning for future goals.
For background on myself, I graduated as Valedictorian from my high school of over 800 students, scoring a 5 on each of the 10+ AP courses I took. I scored a 36 on the ACT and 1580 on the SAT. I hold an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Princeton University where I was awarded the Peter A. Greenberg Prize for outstanding accomplishments in mathematics. I was admitted to top PhD programs including MIT and Stanford, and will attend the latter for my Math PhD in the coming year. I have also won various awards for creative and academic writing from Princeton." less...
