"Hi, I'm Jake! I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics (dual major). During college, I often found myself looking to help other people; joining groups that were struggling with problems and concepts, discussing homework with students and leading them through the necessary processes to understand the content. After working with a variety of people, I realize how an approach with one student may differ greatly from another, that working with how the student thinks is as important as the content itself. I have worked in small groups and one-on-one, generally using concrete and relevant examples to show methods and processes about content. I always encourage a lot of practice on any subject, and review problems or lead a student through the work as well. In any case, finding the specific struggles and what an individual is most responsive to is important when helping them, so that they might apply the lessons in class.

In high school, I took Advanced Placement (AP) classes such as Calculus AB/BC, Physics: Newtonian Mechanics/Electricity and Magnetism, Chemistry, US/European History, English Language and Composition, and Psychology. I scored 5's (the highest score) or 4's on most of the respective AP exams. I also have tutoring experience in basic college math and some intermediate/advanced calculus. Most teaching occurred one-on-one, often online but also in-person. I have found that all subjects can be interesting with an appropriate amount of depth and timing, and I would like to give these interests to students so they can learn and enjoy learning.

As a tutor, it is my responsibility to aid students as much as possible, so any content, curriculums, and known struggles of the student within a subject would be very helpful in identifying what to focus on in a given course and how to deliver it.
