"The name “Professor Cliff,” as my students have called me for over twenty years, reflects the approachability, patience, and creativity I bring to my work in the classroom and in a one-on-one setting. Central to my career as an educator is the desire build genuine rapport with my students, develop constructive relationships, and adapt to meet the unique needs of each learner.

With a doctorate from Drew University and an MFA from Columbia University's School of the Arts, my belief is that writing and communication skills are the foundation for success in both school and life. Skills that help students build both a solid academic foundation and to empower them to be dynamic thinkers, communicators, and problem solvers. At the core of my educational philosophy is the belief that all students possess unique and authentic gifts that need to be identified and nurtured with the goal of building identity, intellectual curiosity, and a confidence that supports all their pursuits and passions.

As an instructional coach and a classroom instructor in an array of English language subject areas, I have always seen my position as one of mentor, whose goal is to bring out the very best in my students. I am also a published author, and content creator, with extensive experience in publishing, film and media, and business, with a specialized expertise in helping my students and clients tell their personal, professional, or organizational story. My belief is that everyone possesses a unique talent to share with the world. My passion is to help people find it, nourish it, express it, or do that talent to the very best of their ability.
