"As a college student double-majoring in Physics and Environmental Science, I am excited to share my enthusiasm for STEM by tutoring! I am passionate about helping students to build confidence, succeed in their classes, and gain a greater appreciation for science and math. My tutoring experience includes volunteering through the National Honor Society, where I regularly met with a middle school student to help with homework and test preparation in math and science. Additionally, I have worked as a teaching assistant for four semesters, assisting undergraduate students with lab assignments, answering questions in group settings and individually during office hours, and grading homework assignments.
As a teaching assistant, I listened to the different ways students approached problems, and then explained pieces that they may have missed using methods that best suited their learning styles. Some students, for instance, understand physics best when they can see a mathematical proof, while others prefer to think about the math conceptually. Because physics problems can often be approached from many angles, there may be multiple methods to solve a problem, or tools—such as analogies, visuals, or examples—that can help with intuitive understanding. My goal is to tailor tutoring sessions to suit your needs and help you to get the most out of them. My coursework and experience have prepared me to tutor physics, calculus, and environmental science, including AP classes. I scored a 5 on the AP environmental science exam and have maintained a 3.97 college GPA while taking introductory and advanced physics and ecology courses. Currently, I am studying electrodynamics and quantum mechanics and completing an honors senior research project. I also participated in an REU at Rutgers in the summer of 2023.
If these teaching strategies are what you are looking for, I would be happy to tutor you in physics, math, or environmental science." less...
