"Hello! My name is David, and I am currently an undergraduate student attending Brown University in pursuit of B.Sc. degrees in Neuroscience and Computer Science. As a student myself, I am well familiar with the difference a professor/tutor can make, in terms of quality of education and overall student satisfaction. My main goal for all of my students is to make learning enjoyable, while building a strong conceptual foundation of the subject(s) being covered. I accomplish this goal by approaching learning from various angles, whether that means using a more model-based approach (i.e. drawing out diagrams on the whiteboard) to allow the student to visualize topics, or explaining concepts more clearly for students who are more auditory learners. I am always adapting to my students' needs or to the subject at hand!
I primarily tutor students in K-12 Math and Science subjects, as well as the SAT Math section and the ACT Math / Science section. I have three years of experience tutoring high school students one-on-one in Algebra 1, Precalculus, and Single-Variable Calculus. In these tutoring sessions, I would go over homework problems step-by-step and simultaneously review concepts learned during class. I have carried this approach to how I tutor my students now: I use problems that may be giving students trouble to build a strong foundation of concepts. Through the upper-level math courses I am currently enrolled in, I have learned which topics in K-12 math are fundamental to setting students up for future success. In addition, I have a year of experience tutoring in SAT Math and ACT Math / Science, as well as over 3 years of experience being tutored in these subjects: I have spent countless hours of going through practice tests (i.e. Kaplan, Barron's, Princeton Review, McGraw-Hill) and learning the tips / tricks of mastering these tests in test prep institutions in the U.S. and in South Korea. I earned perfect scores on the ACT Math and Science section (36), as well as the SAT Math section (800). By breaking the Ma" less...
