"I am currently an undergraduate student working towards my Bachelor's degree in Social Work. I am a highly motivated individual who strives to succeed personally, academically, and in my career. I've been a tutor for a few elementary-aged students in various subjects. I am currently working with a fifth grader in Spanish as a second language whose family is moving to Spain in a few years; he has made wonderful progress with the language from no knowledge to now recognizing and correctly translating various words and phrases in only two months.
As a Social Work major, I've been taking various sociology and psychology classes. I feel I'm strong in these subjects specifically and have thus far maintained a GPA of 3.48. I also have experience in working with individuals with ADHD. A current student of mine has ADHD, and I've found ways to connect with and teach him that work for him. I also have ADHD, so I know the struggles students with ADHD face, and I can help develop and teach students various ways to understand subjects that will work for them. I have been assisting my younger sister in her schoolwork since she started school. I've seen her through k-7 so far, and she's moving to 8th grade shortly, as she's in a self-paced homeschool program. My sister is working slightly ahead of her grade level as well, with my help.
I am also confident and proficient in writing, reading, and overall English and language arts subjects. I am proficient in APA formatting and MLA formatting and can assist in grammar, proofreading, and editing all types of written assignments. Creative writing is another strong suit of mine, in combination with literature-based courses.
All of my previous tutoring experience has been one-on-one, both virtually and in person. I am very capable and confident in my abilities. Of the students I've worked with, I've only received positive feedback, which furthers my drive to continue to help others where and when I can." less...
