"Originally from Tanzania in East Africa, I spent my elementary, middle, and high school years at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, taking advanced courses in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. After graduating from high school I got accepted into the engineering school at Columbia University. There I studied civil engineering, taking more classes in physics and mathematics. I also took a few finance and business courses on the side for technical electives. I graduated from the school of engineering in the summer of 2014.
I have been tutoring for most of my life. I started by helping fellow students in middle school, joining a tutoring group at university, and finally becoming an independent tutor after graduation. I have worked with students of all ages, from elementary school to graduate programs, in a wide variety of subjects. I have worked extensively with students with special needs and learning disabilities, and am very experienced in catering my tutoring style to their needs.
I love tutoring and love seeing students learn new topics and grasp concepts. I am very devoted to my work and want to make sure students understand the core concepts of what they're learning, rather than just being able to plug and chug numbers. My goal is to make students interested in their learning and give them the skills and tools they need to succeed.
Please feel free to contact me for any tutoring needs. Although I have areas that I am personally stronger in (science and mathematics), I am more than willing to help students learn whatever they need. I am adept at grasping new concepts very fast, so even if I have not seen the material before, a few days of preparation will be all I need to help students excel in that area.
All ages and all topics are welcome." less...
