"Hello! I am a recent college graduate with over 7 years of tutoring experience. I graduated from SUNY Albany with honors and received a B.S. in Information Security, Computer Science, and Philosophy. Overall, my approach to tutoring is to be a guide for the student’s learning. While I am there to teach specific concepts, my ultimate goal is to get students to have the confidence that they can learn it. Students can feel quickly alienated when they are behind, so I am constantly reworking my teaching methods to make students feel more independent and confident in their work.

Concepts in math and computer science have always come naturally to me. I have been in the 99th percentile on most math standardized tests, scored an 800 on the math portion of the SATs, and aced almost every math course I’ve taken, including Calculus II and Linear Algebra. I taught myself how to code since I was in 6th grade and scored a 5 on the Computer Science AP test. I graduated college with honors, scoring in the high 3s in all my computer science courses.

Unfortunately, I know this is not true for everyone. Fortunately, I love to help students succeed — and I’m pretty good at it! I know that there is no “one size fits all” approach to learning math. Other the years, I have learned many different ways of approaching concepts to help different students learn. I have tutored my classmates in my math and computer science courses all through high school and college. I also have also tutored students from 6th to 8th grade in math, helping them improve their math grades and score better on standardized and high-school entrance exams. In college, I was a Teacher's Assistant for Systems Communications and Networking for 3 years and provided many one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in that setting. I helped classmates in my Data Structures and advanced programming courses as well.

In addition, I have taught computer literacy, guitar, and volunteered at my college's writing center, proofing other students' work." less...
